PhD position in evolving service-based systems

One paid PhD student position is opening with our group, linked to a recently funded ECSEL project AFarCloud (Aggregate Farming in the Cloud)

The research topic concerns controlled partial upgrades of evolving service-based systems, with the goal to enable prevention of consistency breaking changes in the rollout of service updates of cloud native systems built on microservices.  The work will be building on existing results on component/service modeling and consistency verification and is expected to contribute novel methods of finding optimized set of updates preserving global system consistency.  The research will be performed within the Reliable Software Architectures research group at UWB, in close cooperation with Department of Dependable Distributed Systems at Charles University, Prague.

The position includes half-time paid contract from the project sources, which can be augmented by other funding.  The position is nominally for 3 years, commencing September 2018 (negotiable).
